Soliloquies - Ymsonau

Known for her ability to create “an exceptionally still moment” (UKHA Magazine), City Music Foundation Artist Gwenllian Llŷr will perform some of the pieces from her highly anticipated second CD, ‘Soliloquies’. She pairs well-known composers such as Debussy and Scriabin with newer voices, including a new commission from Mared Emlyn inspired by the legend ‘Melangell’ as well as Llŷr’s own contemporary take on the well known hymn, Calon Lan.

From the Hearth - O’r Aelwyd

In appreciation of the wonderful tradition of sharing music and stories around an open fire, this programme celebrates the transformation of melodies, stories and nursery rhymes into harp masterpieces. iJoin Gwenllian as she displays the versatility of the harp, including her own reimagination of the well-known hymn ‘Calon Lan’, a rhythmic visit to a New York night club, as well as her transcription of the stunning Prelude and Nocturne by Scriabin played solely with her left hand.

Gwenllian will return to her alma mater to perform a solo recital in the beautiful Dora Stoutzker Hall. Following this, she will share all her tips and tricks with the current students in a masterclass.

In appreciation of the wonderful tradition of sharing music and stories around an open fire, this programme celebrates the transformation of nursery rhymes, short stories and legends into harp masterpieces. including the title piece from Gwenllian’s newest CD, ‘Soliloquies’ as well as the nail-biting Ballade Fantastique by Henriette Renie, based on ‘The Tell-tale Heart’ by Edgar Allan Poe.

Concert and Cakes

Enjoy a relaxed concert in the heart of Orpington, with music from renowned harpist Gwenllian Llyr and two of her advanced students. There will be plenty of cakes to enjoy and you will hear selections from Gwenllian’s most recent CD, Soliloquies. Children welcome!

Tickets to be bought on the door, £5 for adults. Children free.
