Another ‘Impression’

I don’t know about you, but it feels a bit like summer happened a couple of months ago and autumn stepped up to the plate a little early, making for a pretty grey August in Orpington!

For a while, I kept waking up expecting “sunny spells” as my phone likes to say, but disappointed to discover yet another blanket of grey clouds. This week though, in true “back-to-school” fashion, the sun has burst through the clouds again, shining its rays on the last of our roses. The warm evenings have been reminding me of a piece I wrote a few years ago, ‘Farewell to Summer’; so, in anticipation of the earlier sunsets and to honour another summer of memories, I’ve finally gotten around to publishing this little gem within my ‘Impressions’ collection.

Suitable for approximately Grade 4 and playable on both pedal and lever harps, this short piece is versatile and easy to enjoy. For more advanced students, it could be a short encore or a little interlude within a robust programme.
