NEWS & THOUGHTS

What an exciting year! After so much planning and preparing, I’m so pleased that my debut CD ‘Dusk to Dawn’ is available to buy. On it, you can hear a range of music, from popular harp favourites by Tournier, Chertok and Renie, to glorious piano transcriptions of works by Bartok, Debussy and Glinka.

I’m really looking forward to another tour with Live Music Now in just a few days time! This time, I’ll be performing in Mid-Wales at a range of venues, including care homes near Newtown, public concerts in Brecon, Llangadfan and Newtown, and finishing off with two concerts at Ysgol Cedewain.

In a few short weeks, my students and I will present a fun, summer celebration of the harp at Orpington Methodist Church. Some of my students haven’t been learning long, while others are preparing for exams and advanced diplomas, so it will be a wonderful mix of music. You may also be able to get a sneak preview of some of the pieces of my brand new CD, which will be released in the Autumn!

As many of you may know, after completing my Master of Music degree at The Juilliard School in May 2013, I took some time off from doing music full time. As incredible an experience as it was, I was completely exhausted after my two years of taking every opportunity that came along as well as working many hours of the day to pay for the course.

I’m pleased to announce that I’ve have been accepted as a soloist for Live Music Now! It’s a fantastic charity, founded by Yehudi Menuhin and Ian Stoutzker, which works with a diverse range of people to provide live performances of the highest quality.

I’m so excited that I’ve been offered the chance to play the Danses by Debussy with the Academy String Orchestra! Having only been given a month to learn it the first time round, I’m really looking forward to being able to look deeper into the music and try to bring out the huge variety of colour that the music demands.

I’m very excited to be playing a solo recital in Monmouth Festival at the end of the month! I’ll be playing works by Debussy, Salzedo, Renie, Mathias, Rothstein, as well as some traditional music, so if you’re free on July 29th at 7pm it would be wonderful to see you at St.Mary’s Church in Monmouth. You can find more information by downloading the festival brochure or looking on the website.
